Happy Holidays

A very happy holiday to each of you and I truly hope that all the magic of this season is filling your days and nights. I’ll be back around here in January, hopefully with edition #11 of Unschooling Voices. I apologise for the recent inconsistancy of the issues coming out. Those who are regular visitors know that things have personally been rough for me lately. I’ll get through it, but for now there’s a lot...

November is almost here..

…and that can only mean one thing. Black Friday. For those who may not get out much, Black Friday is held the day after Thanksgiving and retailers across the country sell at a discount to start the holiday shopping season off. You have to know your prices though and most major retailers will offer a selection of products at considerable discounts while others are priced as you would find a weekly sale item. It pays to...

Garden Totems

A while ago, I came across something called garden totems on a gardening site but it wasn’t until recently that I decided to make some. I’ve been thinking about ways to use my mothers glass and flatware items and decided to try and make a couple of them yesterday. What I did was gather a bunch of items (bowls, dishes, candle holders, etc) and arrange them. I used clear GE Silicone 2 to attach them and let it dry...

Do you know what plant this is?

Does anybody out there know the name of this plant? When my mother passed away (so sad to type that-it’s 11 weeks today) I inherited all her plants. I have a black thumb (unlike her who was nicknamed Mother Nature) but I’m determined to not kill any of them (there’s about 15 different ones). This one just bloomed and I’d love to know what it is so I can take care of it...

Hello everyone!

Just a quick post to everyone to say hello and thank you for your condolences and thoughts. They have helped me through the hardest month of my life and your friendship means the world to me. We’re getting ready for a trip back home to New York City on September 6th to have a memorial service for my mother and I’ll be back to regular blogging and editing Unschooling Voices when I get back, which will be towards...

update

New update: With so much sadness in my heart, I have to post that my mother passed away yesterday. She’s had a lifetime of health issues that her body just couldn’t fight anymore. Through it all she was the happiest, most positive person I knew. I learned so much from her about life and how to live it. I won’t be around for a while but I will return because she showed me that life is to much of a gift to not...

We Do Follow

Most blogs come with ‘nofollow’ tags built into the comment area. This was originally supposed to be a way to deter spammers because their links wouldn’t be indexed by the search engines. So, if a search engine (like Google or Yahoo) sees a rel=”nofollow” tag on a link, they will ignore it. They don’t follow the link, and they don’t count the link in the site’s rank (the site of the...

Changing Template

I’ll be changing the template here so things may be missing or a little weird until I get it all fixed. Some or all of my blog rolls may be missing until I copy the code. Share

Early Christmas Shopping

Am I the only one that does Christmas shopping all year round? I find that with three children, it’s financially easier to buy things throughout the year than try to to it all right before the holidays. Also, doing it a little at a time gives me the time to pick out gifts that they’ll love. I’ve blogged before about Jacqueline’s passion for space & astronomy and we’ll be re-doing her room...
